An animal shelter worker in Los Angeles who has been with LA Animal Services for more than two decades said she never wants to return after she was viciously attacked by a dog. Leslie Corea, a kennel supervisor, said she was attacked by a dog named Brie when she went to care for the dog at LA Animal Services’ Harbor shelter in San Pedro two weeks ago. So far, Corea has undergone three surgeries for the injuries she suffered in the attack.

This restored C-53 Skytrooper, known as the D-Day Doll, played a key role in the June 6, 1944 D-Day landings in France. Built in Santa Monica, the plane was delivered to the military in July 1943. A year later, its D-Day mission consisted of towing gliders with reinforcements for troops who landed earlier in the night near Normandy’s Utah Beach, one of the beaches stormed by allied troops. The aircraft flew three missions on D-Day and the following day, most under the cover of darkness.
