This weekend Visit Sacramento hosted the inaugural Terra Madre Americas. Twenty years ago, the first Terra Madre festival took place in Turin, Italy, and was attended by 5,000 people. It now attracts more than 350,000 visitors to hundreds of exhibits from all over the world communicating the importance of biodiversity, education, and advocacy for slow food. This resulted in Turin becoming the Capital City of food in Italy. The mission of the slow food movement is to improve the quality of food for the health of the planet and humanity. Modesto police are sounding the alarm after four overdose deaths in 24 hours from fentanyl poisoning in Stanislaus County. They are urging the public not to do drugs. Man describes being stabbed while trying to break up fight in North Highlands

A man who intervened to break up a fight in North Highlands and was stabbed multiple times on Friday is speaking out about his experience. “I wasn’t raised that way, so I went over to assist,” said the man, who did not want to share his name due to safety concerns. Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies arrested Aaron Gonzales in connection with the stabbing. The sheriff’s office said the fight started when a store employee confronted Gonzales to ask him to leave the parking lot of a shopping center on Elkhorn Boulevard. That’s when the good Samaritan witnessed the brawl and decided to help. Carolina Estrada reports. Sacramento police in standoff with stolen fire department vehicle suspect

2 teens stabbed at North Highlands birthday party after fight involving adults

Toll lane project on Interstate 80 between West Sacramento and Davis gets green light

The California Transportation Commission approved funding for the first phase of Caltrans’ Yolo 80 Corridor Improvements project, which would add toll lanes to Interstate 80 between Davis and West Sacramento. Officials said one High Occupancy Toll lane would be added to I-80 in each direction, which would expand that portion of the interstate from six lanes to eight lanes total. The new lanes would be free for cars with three or more people inside, but solo drivers and drivers with only one passenger would have to pay a toll fee.
