Surf legend Kelly Slater says ‘this feels like the end’

Kelly Slater, an 11-time world champion, may have surfed his final heat on the World Surf League’s Championship Tour during the Western Australia Margaret River Pro.
Although there has been no official announcement, Slater expressed deep emotion following his defeat by world No. 1 Griffin Colapinto in the Round of 32, which also eliminated him from the tournament and beyond the mid-season cut on the CT.
After the competition, the 52-year-old shared, “It’s been an incredible lifetime of memories. It’s so much emotion for so long … It’s not all roses but it’s been the best times of my life. It feels like the end but it’s the start of something else, the rest of my life.”
