Oakland A’s Won’t Return To Oakland Because The City Doesn’t Have Its Act Together – Proof.

As I said on Sunday, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao said that Howard Terminal was “entitled” and here’s more proof that the Oakland A’s never got the go-ahead to build a ballpark at Howard Terminal.

The website called “Waterfront Ballpark District at Howard Terminal” (https://waterfrontballparkdistrict.com/) has a giant list of documents placed in sections. One such section is called “approvals”. The last of the approvals was dated March 1, 2022, and was a resolution from the Port of Oakland to the City of Oakland so the Oakland City Council could approve the necessary permits and the development agreement.

But guess what? The Oakland City Council never got to that point. Indeed, it spent more time talking about taking the whole project to a City-wide vote, only to have that ridiculous idea terminated by Council vote. Howard Terminal had become so over-politicized that getting the project tasks organized and done became an afterthought. Many key players, foremore among them Oakland City Administrative Officer Ed Reskin, spent more time finding new jobs than getting Howard Terminal done.

Why?

Because Mayor Schaaf was termed out and the new boss, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, was a lukewarm supporter of Howard Terminal.

Meanwhile, the project manager had no real power to set the project on the right course, and it was not even clear that person knew how to do that. Otherwise it would have been done.

The result was a frustrated A’s staff, reduced to meeting after meeting (if the source is to be believed) on matters of affordable housing that were an easily resolvable matter.

Stay tuned.

Note from Oakland News Now Blog, Zennie62 YouTube, and Zennie62Media: this Oakland News Online Blog video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018, originally on Zennie62Media , Inc.’s Oakland News Now. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. This is what we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a search for YouTube video under “Oakland News” then that YouTube video is uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Online Blog site and Zennie62Media -created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, thus less chance for Oakland News Online Blog, Zennie62 YouTube vloggers to be robbed. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners. This process is entirely within YouTube terms of service, where embedding of videos for use on websites and platforms is allowed and encouraged.
