Ok. In The Deshaun Watson Massage Therapist case we have 24 “women” reportedly “settling” But, here’s Lauren Baxley, “writing” in the Daily Beast, that she’s rejected any settlement. So, the media eats up the story without checking it. Meanwhile, Lauren Baxley claims she is a “former” Houston, Texas massage therapist. OK?

So, riddle me this: why is it I can’t find any internet mention of Lauren Baxley as a massage therapist and separate from any reference to Deshaun Watson? She is not mentioned in the Texas License database. Yes, the system has its technical issues, but those did not stop Ashley Solis from being mentioned and her license number shown. Where is Lauren Baxley’s?

Where is any mention of a business website for Lauren Baxley as Massage Therapist? There is none. This looks very much like what Deadspin found in the Mante T’eo Catfishing Case. In that, Deadspin’s writers Deadspin’s Timothy Burke and Jack Dickey got a tip that Te’o’s girlfriend did not exist, and so went on an internet investigation. Part of that process revealed that the only time his girlfriend’s name came up online was in media mentions, and one Facebook page. Nothing else.

What’s disappointing about that fact is that Deshaun Watson’s accusers have not been granted anywhere near the same level of analysis as Te’o’s fake girlfriend, yet the same cues are there.

I will start with this null hypothesis: there is no Lauren Baxley as a real live Massage Therapist, either current or former, with a list of past clients and testimonials. What there seems to be is someone who’s hired to fake or is covering up for being something else – like some kind of online paramour for money.

There’s my null hypothesis. Disprove it. Remember, Tony Buzbee has a history of allegations that he;’s created “fake clients”. Mr. Buzbee is a top-flight class-action lawyer and in Watson and the Texans faced with a big money fish. Tell me why he’s not going to use any means to squeeze cash out of them?
