Dear Oakland Unified Community,

We hope your summer is going well.

This school year, the Network Attendance Liaisons designed the second annual District & Citywide Attendance Campaign: Everyone & Every Day Counts. Our goal with this initiative was to recognize the effort required to make school engaging and beneficial for our students. Each month we had an attendance-related theme to engage each school community in building awareness and the skills necessary for consistent attendance. We know that cultivating relationships, solid routines, and shared accountability are successful approaches that can lead to better attendance.

Throughout the 2021-22 school year, many schools participated and expanded this initiative. It was a beautiful and enriching experience to learn from one another. Over the past two years OUSD students have shared inspirational moments with 18 community leaders including artists, writers, athletes, doctors and other leaders from across the Bay Area. Please take the time to check out the 2021-22 winners and their impactful presentations.

The Attendance and Discipline Team wants to thank participating schools for their commitment to making everyone and every day count!

Have a safe and fun summer!

In community,
OUSD Attendance and Discipline Team
