Trio of islanders enjoyed big weekend for BYU softball

A trio of Hawaii natives played pivotal roles in Brigham Young University’s stunning upset over top-ranked Oklahoma this past Friday.

Kamehameha’s Keila Kamoku and Iolani’s Aleia and Ailana Agbayani combined for seven hits, four RBIs, and three runs, propelling the Cougars to victory. Kamoku contributed a home run, Aleia hit a run-scoring double, and Ailana earned the win in relief.

“It’s kind of like a full circle moment,” Aleia told KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello. “Ailana and I coming back together, playing together for my last two years and then with Keila, it’s so funny because we grew up playing against each other and like, it’s so crazy. Now we’re teammates and it’s just been so much fun.”
