Kīlauea erupts south of summit caldera

According to the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, Kīlauea volcano’s newest eruption began at 12:30 am HST Monday morning. HVO says that lava is erupting from fissures that are located about a mile south of Kīlauea’s caldera within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
