Howard Terminal Update: East Oakland Stadium Alliance Poll Call Livestream

The letter reads:

The East Oakland Stadium Alliance press call at 11am. We look forward to sharing the results of a new poll of Oakland voters demonstrating overwhelming support for a public vote to determine if public tax dollars should be used to support the project and a full independent, public analysis of the financial terms before any deal is agreed upon.

OAKLAND, Calif. Today, the East Oakland Stadium Alliance (EOSA) released results of a new public opinion survey that shows overwhelming support for a public vote on whether hundreds of millions in public funding should be spent on a new privately developed ballpark-condominium-retail complex at the Howard Terminal site in the Port of Oakland. The poll shows that Oakland voters overwhelmingly support (76% support, 15% oppose) a public vote on any deal that uses public funds to support the A’s Howard Terminal project; 85% of voters also want to require a full independent, public analysis before any deal is agreed upon.

Conducted by The Mellman Group, the poll surveyed 800 Oakland voters, with a margin of error of +/-3.5%. Among other key findings in the survey, it showed that:

  • Three-quarters (76%) of voters want to vote on any deal involving public funds, while only 15% do not. There is real intensity to this demand as 63% strongly support putting any such agreement on the ballot.
  • Over 70% of voters across every age, gender, education, ethnicity, and sexual orientation polled support putting a deal on the ballot – including 76% of baseball fans.
  • In every city council district, support for ensuring any agreement goes to the ballot outpaced opposition by at least a 45% margin.
  • Over 75% of voters across gender, age, education, ethnicity, and sexual orientation polled, and in every city council district, want an independent public fiscal analysis of the project’s proposed funding agreement conducted — including 85% of baseball fans.

The polling results can be viewed here.

Live at 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST

Note from Oakland News Now Blog, Zennie62 YouTube, and Zennie62Media: this Oakland News Online Blog video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018, originally on Zennie62Media , Inc.’s Oakland News Now. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. This is what we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a “liked” YouTube video by a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then that YouTube video is uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Online Blog site and Zennie62Media -created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, thus less chance for Oakland News Online Blog, Zennie62 YouTube vloggers to be robbed. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners. This process is entirely within YouTube terms of service, where embedding of videos for use on websites and platforms is allowed and encouraged.
