Christie Smythe Interview Livestream – Famed Reporter And Friend Of “Pharma Bro” Talks With Zennie
Very proud to announce and to invite my friend Christie Smythe on to Zennie62 YouTube and the Zennie62Media Network to talk about her relationship now friendship with Martin Shkreli, AKA “Pharma Bro”. The interview will be held Monday July 25th, 2022, 3:30 PM EST.
About Christie Smythe: Christie Smythe’s bio reads as follows: Christie Smythe is a writer and a professional journalist for almost 15 years from Kansas who works and resides New York City.
About Martin Shkrelli: Martin Shkreli is the man called “Pharma Bro” and social media provocateur, known for increasing the price of a lifesaving drug by 5,000 percent overnight. Mr. Shkreli was the co-founder and former chief executive officer of the biotechnology firm Retrophin and founder and former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals. Turing obtained the manufacturing license for the drug Daraprim, an AIDS drug, and increased the prices by nearly 5,000 percent overnight in August 2015. Shkrelli also made news for buying a one-off Wu-Tang Clan album for a reported $2 million. Martin Shkreli, who was convicted of fraud in 2017, just finished a stint in prison, having been released in May of this year. Martin’s lawyers revealed he had a fiancée who would house him in her Manhattan apartment to work on a cure for Covid-19 after release from prison.
The story: Working as a white-collar-crime reporter for Bloomberg, a married Christie Smythe engaged in a love-affair with the man she was writing about Martin Shkreli, even breaking the story of his arrest. Smythe went on to divorce her husband, only to find that the man she fell in love with while he was in prison wasn’t as into her as she believed.
But the question is why is this important? Well, let’s face it: what Martin Shkrelli did was an awful act that impacted millions of people. And journalists are supposedly trained to not be part of the story, but Christie Smythe became just that when she fell in love with him.
The encounter invites a discussion of what really makes us as people tick (and in the process makes the rules of journalism seemingly silly), what Christie learned about a man who would do what Martin did, and are we actually producing more people Shkreli in this mix of tech and money? And what does it say about Christie and her attraction to him?
Join us Monday at 3:30 PM EST / 12:30 PM here at Zennie62 YouTube / Zennie62Media, Inc.

Note from Oakland News Now Blog, Zennie62 YouTube, and Zennie62Media: this Oakland News Online Blog video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018, originally on Zennie62Media , Inc.’s Oakland News Now. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. This is what we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a “liked” YouTube video by a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then that YouTube video is uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Online Blog site and Zennie62Media -created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, thus less chance for Oakland News Online Blog, Zennie62 YouTube vloggers to be robbed. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners. This process is entirely within YouTube terms of service, where embedding of videos for use on websites and platforms is allowed and encouraged.
