Human remains were found inside a trash bin in a Sunland neighborhood. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the call Tuesday morning. It has since been confirmed that victim was a middle-aged woman. Law enforcement sources told the NBC4 I-team that they believe the remains are those of a victim of a crime.

I-Team investigates: Scammers hijacking phone numbers to steal money

A new investigation by NBCLA’s I-Team reveals that a growing number of Americans are victimized by so-called SIM Swapping. Scammers get a hold of victims’ personal information, convince cell phone companies to transfer cell numbers to a different phone. SIM swap victims have lost more than $68 million, according to the recent data from the FBI.
