Organizers of a pro-Palestinian encampment on the University of Washington campus have reached an agreement with administrators. The university and United Front for Palestinian Liberation announced the agreement Friday, which calls for protesters to remove tents from the Quad by May 20 at 3 p.m. The encampment, which has been in place since the end of April, will not be reestablished, according to the agreement. Saturday, May 18 marks the 44th anniversary of the eruption of Mount St. Helens. For the second year, visitors to Mount St. Helens won’t be able to drive to the closest observation center due to a road closure caused by a landslide in May of 2023. Mount St. Helens Institute volunteer Allen Bennett, who considers May 18, the “erupt-iversary,” said the closure is no reason to skip a trip to the volcano. ”There’s miles and miles and miles of trails if you are so inclined to hike,” said Bennett, minutes before heading out on a 5-mile trek to the Johnston observatory, which is still accessible by trail. ‘Belltown Hellcat’ driver’s mother emails Seattle court saying vehicle is being repaired

The driver of the controversial “Belltown Hellcat” is not operating the vehicle while his mother, the registered owner, works on getting it into compliance. That is according to an email Rebecca Hudson sent to city officials on Tuesday afternoon. Miles Hudson, 20, was charged in late March with two counts of reckless driving. On March 29, Hudson was also given a noise control violation notice, in which the city demanded Hudson restore the vehicle to a condition that complies with the requirements of the Seattle Municipal Code by April 15 and to not operate a vehicle that causes sound that violates that code. “The car has had some issues and will not start on its own. We took it to the Dodge dealership and had it diagnosed. The part that they have to fix on the car is on back order and I have also put the car in a different shop to fix the electric panel,” Hudson’s mother told the court.
