Mother arrested after 11-year-old boy found dead inside trailer in Sutter County

The mother of an 11-year-old boy in Sutter County was arrested Sunday in connection with her child’s death, according to the sheriff. Sheriff Brandon Barnes said Monday that the child appeared to have been smothered with a pillow and dead for several days. Meagan Dixon, 44, is being held on $1 million bail and was booked on charges of murder, great bodily injury with a drug-related enhancement and child abuse, according to Sutter County Jail records. Barnes said she could face more charges.
