Upcoming self-guided kitchen tour in San Mateo County raising money for mental health services

An organization in San Mateo is working to build a better Bay Area using the beauty of kitchens.

SolMateo is a women-led volunteer group that raises money for mental health services.

The 42nd annual signature self-guided kitchen tour is in May and will showcase some of the Bay Area’s most inspiring talents and homes.

All proceeds go toward helping the Mental Health Association of San Mateo County and nonprofit Starvista Crisis Prevention Center.

Nancy Minnig, co-chair of the kitchen tour, said her decision to join the organization was personal.

“For me personally, I’ve had family members who have struggled with mental health issues – I actually lost my sister and her daughter to drug overdoses. So it impacted our family greatly. So it was very important to find a way to help others to also gain support for myself,” she said.

The Kitchen Tour is Friday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
