Files $1.4 Million Dollar Law Suit Claiming He was Forced Out for Being a Man
Los Angeles – Richard Corso, 62, a three time Olympic and Hall of Fame Coach has filed a lawsuit against the University of California at Berkeley. Corso was the Women’s Water Polo coach who had a remarkable record of wins, academic standing and international recruitment of talented players from all over the world. Corso left his position after suffering several indignities based on age and gender discrimination. The lawsuit is based on a two year succession of contrived events against Corso that no reasonable person standing in his shoes could or would endure.
During Corso’s tenure at Berkeley, he was touted as one of the most successful women’s water polo coaches in the school’s history. While at Berkeley, he mentored five Olympians, and thirty-four All-MPSF selections. After winning his 200th game, he was inducted into the United States Water Polo Hall of Fame.
Corso had no intention of retiring, often saying that he had at least two more Olympic cycles in him. Throughout his tenure at Berkeley, Corso remained healthy, fit and just as passionate as the day he began. He always has an unquestionable dedication to his players who consistently returned their respect and admiration for him.
Corso states that he feels betrayed and penalized by the Athletic Director Mike Williams and his staff.
Corso’s attorney, Andrea Tytell stated that she is proud to represent such a noble man who suffered discrimination at the hands of an elite university that should have known better.
