Oakland – In 2013, at the Oakland Global Groundbreaking for what is now called the Insight Terminal Solutions Oakland Bulk & Oversized Terminal Project, Oakland Mayor Jean Quan shared her thoughts on the project and the promise of replacing the well-paying basic industry jobs lost due to the closure of the West Oakland Army Base.
“People have been waiting 15 years to see the Oakland Army Base Redevelopment produce jobs,” Mayor Quan said. In the Zennie62 on YouTube video, she then pointed to the need for the basic, well-paying jobs the Insight Terminal Solutions Oakland Bulk & Oversized Terminal was expected to provide. Quan also mentioned the Port’s long standing desire to have a bulk terminal as part of its service infrastructure.
