A stop at the historic Soda Springs General Store store on Donner Pass Road is more than a chance to grab a snack while exploring the Sierra. It’s also a chance to relive the tale of a notorious couple and a signature Stetson hat that seemingly disappeared. “I think because we’re in the middle of nowhere, bad guys come here a lot and try to hide out in the woods,” said Cheryl Paduano, the store’s co-owner.
