Azealia Banks, the rapper, posted an Instagram video of herself using a power saw to clean up three years of mess made by sacrificing chickens in her home. Yes. You read that correctly. The singer SIA blasted Banks on Twitter but Azealia flamed her to no end, in return. Crazy. Ronda Rousey Will Beat Amanda Nunes, Comeback from Holly Holm Loss, In UFC 207 Friday

Ronda Rousey Will Beat Amanda Nunes, Comeback from Holly Holm Loss, In UFC 207 Friday

Yes, Ronda Rousey will beat Amanda Nunes in UFC 207 Friday. The reason is simple: Ronda’s battle with extreme depression after her last fight, a 2015 loss to Holly Holm that shocked everyone, including Holly Holm herself.

But the way back from that loss to Holm was anything but smooth for Rousey. I’m reminded of the 23rd Psalm which says ““Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” I think Ronda got stuck in the valley and feared evil, and forgot her way. The way out of the valley took her through a tough battle with self-doubt and depression. It didn’t help that some fans of the sport of ultimate fighting seemed to turn on her. All of this, and more, has caused her to look in the mirror and ask what’s important to her – and by training for this fight, by doing this fight, she’s answered that part of what is a compound question: Can I do this and do I want this and can I deal with it if I lose?

Ronda Rousey doesn’t want to get to a point of having to answer the last part of the query, and so she’s trained like hell – and her body shows it. She’s not at all weighted down with fat. Not like she was the early part of last year, when a bit of the results of living the good life started to show up in a bit of a chunky way.

Nope, now Ronda Rousey looks jacked and ready for battle against a woman who believes that even Ronda thinks she will beat her – Amanda Nunes.

Who will win? Well, I said it: Ronda Rousey will walk out of the valley of the shadow of death on Friday.

Zsa Zsa Gabor Funeral By Frederic von Anhalt Draws Anger Debbie Reynolds, Celebrities Used For Publ

Zsa Zsa Gabor Funeral By Frederic von Anhalt Draws Anger Debbie Reynolds, Celebrities Used For Publicity

Yes. “Zsa Zsa Gabor Funeral by Frederick VonAnhalt Draws Anger: Debbie Reynolds, Celebrities Used For Publicity” is the correct headline.

A funeral planned for December 30th and by Frederick VonAnhalt, the last husband of famous actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, who passed away last Sunday, has drawn fire as the names of a number of celebrities, including the now-late Debbie Reynolds (who passed away on Wednesday, and one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher died) were used simply for publicity, as if it were some kind of party or Hollywood movie premier.

Public relations representatives of a number of top stars in Hollywood have joined together to ask that the names of their clients be removed from what is being called a “false media list” by Edward Lozzi, who was the PR rep for Ms. Gabor and for Francesca Gabor Hilton. “The ‘False Media List’ is being sent to news agencies and celebrity publicists by the producers of this event containing the names of stars who have no intention of attending due to obvious circumstances,” Lozzi explains.

Lozzi asks “As per direction of Larry King, please remove Larry King’s name from the list as well as Ruta Lee ,who will be on a cruise in Mexico waters. Also please remove Debbie Reynolds (our client). Also remove Barbara Eden, Carol Channing and George Hamilton as per their request!!!! They did not give permission to use their names and are not pleased. They are NOT attending. There will be others from their list who we are verifying will NOT be attending.”

And according to New York Post Page Six, Shaun King, the wife of Larry King said she was “shocked, sickened and angry” at recalling what she called a “chilling” birthday party Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt threw for his wife “a few years ago,” where she claims Gabor was “on display” for guests in a hospital bed – as she was incapacitated. Ms. King said “That ‘husband’ of hers had her on display for us [and] only wanted a photo op for himself. We left quickly, feeling sad, shocked, sickened and angry. Somehow the photo showed up in the tabloids. I was mortified.”. via IFTTT

Debbie Reynolds Dead Of Stroke One Day After Carrie Fisher Her Daughter Passes

Ok. “Debbie Reynolds Dead Of Stroke One Day After Carrie Fisher, Her Daughter, Passes”. Think about that.

Debbie Reynolds was taken to a hospital just after 1 PM PST when someone at the Beverly Hills home of her son, Todd Fisher, called 911 to report whas was said to be a possible stroke. According to TMZ, Debbie and Todd were making funeral plans for Carrie Fisher, who died Tuesday of a heart attack – just the day before.

Debbie Reynolds was an amazing actress, dancer, and celebrity. She was most famous for “Singing In The Rain”, and my personal favorite, the animated movie “Charlotte’s Web.” Ms. Reynolds was the picture of the 1950s wholesome image of the smiling, captivating woman who had something nice to say about everything and everyone.

Debbie Reynolds won my Mom’s heart when she divorced her husband Eddie Fisher in 1959 and after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. Ms. Reynolds went on to marry again in 1960 and 1984.

Debbie Reynolds played unforgetable roles in “Tammy and the Bachelor”, “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” (for which she earned an Academy Award nomination), and in “Charlotte’s Web.”

Her daugher Carrie’s relationship with her was the subject of Carrie’s autobiography “Postcards from the Edge,” which was later a movie starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher are survived by her son and Carrie’s brother Todd Fisher and her Grandaughter Billie Lourd.

What stays with me is the idea that Debbie Reynolds basically willed herself to pass on an join her daughter in Heaven. That’s what that was about. Daughters and sons should never die before their parents. It’s not the way things are supposed to go. Stop and think about this, and Debbie and Carrie – and Todd and Billie.

All too often today, we coldly remark on these events with a comment very much like a friend of mine shockingly texted to me after Carrie Fisher passed away: “It happens…” Well, we know that, but that does not at all mean we’re supposed to have no feelings about it. Something is wrong.

Too many talented people are passing away at middle age: Prince, George Michael, Stuart Scott, and many more over the last year. Are we working too much? Is the ‘International Division of Labor’, where jobs are offshored and we have to work more to make the same money, killing our society?

Personally, I think so. And we better improve our way of life, before it’s too late.

New Year’s Eve 2017 Oakland CA Things To Do – The Alley, Geoffrey’s Inner Circle

New Year’s Eve 2017 Oakland CA Things To Do – The Alley, Geoffrey’s Inner Circle

New Year’s Eve 2017 Oakland, CA Things To Do: The Alley, Geoffrey’s Inner Circle

New Year’s Eve can’t get here fast enough for Oakland and for the United States, for that matter. And if you’re new to Oakland, you’re probably thinking you have to go to San Francisco to have some NYE fun. Well, no – you don’t. There’s stuff to do in Oakland.

So, you’re probably, no certainly, in the middle of trying to figure out what you want to do, but wondering if it’s too late to get into one place or the other considering this is the middle of the last week of 2016. Well, fear not. Here’s Zennie Abraham’s blog and Zennie62 vlog post of some things to do in Oakland, California to ring in 2017 and ring out the hated 2016.

The Alley at 3325 Grand Avenue

The Alley at 3325 Grand Avenue is my personal favorite place to go in Oakland for New Year’s Eve. The newly designated Oakland Landmark and National Landmark has been open since 1931 and was once a speakeasy. In the recent past, The Official Oakland Landmark Rod Dibble held court at the piano (since 1963) and managed to keep all of the hot, tipsy ladies entertained through the evening and past midnight. This weekend, the piano’s still the place to be and with a set of talented players like Paul Hlebcar and Jeff Labes.

Geoffrey’s Inner Circle Has “New Year’s Eve with Syd & Friends”

If you think you’ll sing badly at The Alley, perhaps you’d rather take in a show, but think there’s nothing going on in Downtown Oakland. Think again. Geoffrey’s Inner Circle, the long-time-open nightclub and lounge at 410 14th Street (near the corner of 14th and Broadway) features “New Year’s Eve with Syd & Friends.” The production established by “Wine &Bowties” features local Oakland performers Syd, Duckwrth, Rayana Jay, Neto, B-Side Brujas, Fela Kutchi, and Namaste Shawnty. You can buy tickets here: http://ift.tt/2ijKfFy

Oaktown Private Reserve at Eve’s Waterfront, Oakland

Eve’s Waterfront Restaurant, located at 15 Embarcadero West, has live music and a champagne toast at midnight. The featured performer is the group “Oaktown Private Reserve”, a well-known R&B, Funk, and smooth jazz band. The show starts at 8 and goes to 1 AM; you can get tickets here: http://ift.tt/2iguOeN

Oakland NYE Timba Party at Oakland Baobab

The Oakland Baobab at 381 15th Street in Oakland, is a great African restaurant by day, and a cool dance club by night. For New Year’s Eve, the eatery features a Cuban Dance Party with DJ WaltDigz spinning tunes. Go early for dinner – then stay late for the dancing.

Rocksteady 1741 San Pablo Ave has DJ Ball D & Pam the Funktress

As its promoters write “Ok we are getting the NYE weekend started Friday! DJ Ball D & Pam the Funktress spinning hosted by Earl & Dame. No cover inside Rocksteady 1741 San Pablo Ave. Flashing back and dropping hits all night! It’s a Capricorn Takeover! Then Saturday night we going all the way up! Midnight Toast, Party Favors, and More! The hottest Lounge in the Bay! Get tickets at http://ift.tt/2ijMpVA

Somar Bar Oakland has The Collective NYE 2017

This rockin club right in the heart of The Uptown Entertainment District has DJs Sean G. and D-Roq, with a special guest: DJ FUZE of Digital Underground. The fun starts at Somar Bar, 1727 Telegraph, 9 pm and goes to 2 am. The producers ask that you get tickets in advance here: http://ift.tt/2igkRy0

The Plank At Jack London Square Oakland has NYE Specials

Feel like bowling your way into the New Year? There’s no better place in Oakland than the ever-popular The Plank. The managers of The Plank say “for $45 a person, you get 3 hours of game play, 2 beer or wine tickets, access to our hors d’oeuvres bar, champagne toast and a massive midnight balloon drop! Book your reservation today as space is limited,” here: http://ift.tt/2ijLGUp

Bar Hoping In Uptown And Downtown Oakland? Use The Free Shuttle

If you just plan to bar-hop in Uptown and Downtown Oakland, for God’s sakes, don’t drink and drive, use the Free Downtown Oakland Shuttle Bus. Operated by AC Transit and The City of Oakland, the shuttle runs in a loop from Jack London Square / Embarcadero West to Broadway and 27th Street, and between 6 pm and 1 am.

Home of Chicken and Waffles Oakland Serving To 4 am New Year’s Day

And if you’re wondering who’s open and serving great meals after closing time and into New Year’s Day in Oakland, got to Home of Chicken and Waffles at 444 Embarcadero West next to Jack London Square – they’re serving until 4 am.

Well, that’s a taste of what’s happening in Oakland, but it’s enough for you to realize you don’t have to go to San Francisco to ring in the New Year.

Happy New Year! via IFTTT
